YITH Featured Audio and Video adds media to WooCommerce product galleries: YouTube/Vimeo videos and self-hosted or SoundCloud audio embedded in the gallery — the media layer that music, courses, and demo-driven products need. Product galleries decide conversion for visually-judged goods, and video demonstrably outperforms stills; audio previews are existential for music sellers (a music store without playable previews isn’t a music store). The plugin places media in the gallery flow — video thumbnails alongside images, audio players in gallery position — with per-product configuration. Against gallery tools like Product Gallery and Image Zoom (image UX) and the WooCommerce family, this plugin owns the multimedia dimension specifically.
The 1.6x line maintains steady cadence. For media products it’s core presentation infrastructure; for everyone else, video-in-gallery is a proven conversion lift.

Comparison with Competitors
YITH Featured Audio/Video vs gallery zoom plugins
| Aspect | YITH Featured Audio and Video | YITH Product Gallery and Image Zoom |
|---|---|---|
| Media | Video + audio | Image UX (zoom) |
| Layer | Multimedia content | Image presentation |
| Together? | Yes | Yes |
Bottom line: Different gallery layers: zoom magnifies images; this plugin adds video and audio. Media-rich products run both — playable previews plus zoomable stills.
YITH Featured Audio/Video vs embedded shortcode hacks
| Aspect | YITH Featured Audio/Video | Shortcode embeds in descriptions |
|---|---|---|
| Placement | Gallery flow (native UX) | Description text (buried) |
| Thumbnail UX | Gallery integration | None |
| Maintenance | Supported plugin | Breaks with themes |
| Discovery | Media visibly selectable | Customers miss it |
Bottom line: Embedding video in descriptions buries it below the fold; gallery integration makes media part of the product’s visual presentation — where media-judging customers actually look.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which media sources does it support?
YouTube and Vimeo for video, self-hosted files and SoundCloud for audio — with gallery thumbnails making each media type visibly selectable.
Can video replace the main product image?
Yes — featured-video mode makes the video the primary visual, with images in gallery position — the demo-first presentation that complex products benefit from.
Do audio previews work for music stores?
Yes — that’s a core use case: multiple tracks as playlist per product, playable from the gallery — the preview layer music commerce requires.
Does external media slow the page?
Embeds load lazily — media fetches when selected, not on page load, keeping gallery pages fast despite YouTube/Vimeo presence.
Will it work with my theme?
Yes — it extends the standard WooCommerce gallery template, so themes respecting WooCommerce templates display media correctly.
