YITH Product Gallery and Image Zoom upgrades WooCommerce’s default product imagery: hover zoom magnification (customers inspect detail without clicking), lightbox viewing, and slider galleries replacing the cramped thumbnail stack. Product images drive visual-goods conversion — zoom capability measurably lifts it, because customers can’t touch merchandise and zoom is the next-best inspection. The free version’s zoom was the classic YITH entry point; premium adds gallery layout control, mobile pinch-zoom behavior, thumbnail slider options, and video-in-gallery support. Against presentation tools in the suite like Color and Label Variations (swatch selection) and Featured Audio and Video (media content), this plugin owns image presentation — the layer every visual catalog needs first.
The 2.5x line shows active maintenance with a security patch noted (2.52.1) alongside WooCommerce compatibility work. The registry’s verified versions (2.56.0/2.52.1/2.52.0) are the ones the article carries.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work on mobile?
Yes — pinch-zoom behavior tuned for touch devices, with responsive galleries sizing correctly across screens.
Can galleries include video?
Yes — video integrates in the gallery flow, with the zoom layer handling images and media playback handled natively.
Was there a security patch recently?
Yes — 2.52.1 patched a security vulnerability; running current versions is the standing rule, especially for plugins touching media handling.
Will it work with my theme?
Yes — it extends the standard WooCommerce gallery template, so themes respecting WooCommerce templates display the zoom gallery correctly.
