The short version of this policy: GPL House collects as little as a functioning website allows, analytics run on our own server without cookies, and nothing collected here is sold or shared for marketing. The details follow.
What Gets Collected, and by What
When you browse the site — via self-hosted Matomo:
– IP address, truncated (anonymized) before storage
– Pages visited and time spent
– Device and browser characteristics
– Referring site
Matomo runs on our own server, is configured cookieless, and doesn’t follow you anywhere else. No third party sees this data, and the truncated IP can’t identify you.
When you email us:
– Your name, email address, and message content
When you leave a comment — via WordPress:
– Name and email address (required)
– Comment text
– IP address and user agent (logged automatically by WordPress)
– Website URL (optional)
Comment data is stored until you ask us to delete it. Your email is used for comment notifications and moderation only — never marketing, never shared.
What Happens With It
Four purposes, nothing else: site analytics (Matomo), fixing and improving content, answering your emails, and moderating comments. We don’t sell, rent, or share personal data with marketers. We run no ad networks, no tracking cookies, no third-party trackers. Data leaves our hands only when the law compels it or you explicitly consent.
Cookies
None for analytics, tracking, or ads — Matomo runs fully cookieless here. The only cookies you might encounter are WordPress’s own strictly-necessary session cookies (for example, when logging in), which exist for functionality, not tracking.
External Links
Plugin pages link out to developer sites and download services. Those destinations have their own privacy policies, which take over the moment you click through. We don’t host plugin files ourselves — downloads point to external hosting.
Security
Standard measures protect the site and its data: SSL/TLS in transit, current security patches, and access restricted to those who need it.
Your GDPR Rights
You can ask us to: show you the personal data we hold, correct it, delete it, restrict its processing, export it in a portable format — and you can withdraw any consent at any time. Write to the address below. Since the site requires no registration and collects minimal data, these rights mostly concern email correspondence and comments.
How Long We Keep Things
- Matomo analytics: on our own server, up to 14 months, anonymized — no personal data, and IPs are truncated at collection
- Comments and their metadata: until you request deletion
- Email correspondence: as long as the inquiry needs
- Server logs: rotated and anonymized automatically
Changes to This Policy
Updates appear on this page with a new “Last Updated” date; significant changes get noted on the homepage. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the updated policy.
